Live Production, Podcast & Automation Work

What I do, and the gear I do it with.

Live Production & REMI Broadcast

REMI (Remote Integration Model) is how a lot of sports TV gets made now. Cameras, mics, and announcers stay at the venue, and the control room is somewhere else, connected by bonded cellular and SRT. I work those shows as a broadcast engineer, TD, A1/A2, and video and graphics operator: building comms and IFB so everyone can hear each other, mixing program audio, and switching multi-camera coverage in vMix, sometimes hundreds of miles from the field. Broadcasts I've worked this way have aired on ESPN, Golf Channel, DAZN, and Peacock. A big part of the job is planning. If a venue feed drops mid-show, nobody can walk down the hall to fix it, so the backups have to be built in before air.

Live Sound

I mix front of house and monitors as an A1 or A2 for conferences, keynotes, worship services, and performances.

Broadcast Audio

On REMI shows I build the comms and IFB, manage sources over Dante, and mix broadcast audio for air.

Video Switching & Streaming

I switch multi-camera live streams and broadcasts and run graphics, with LiveU and SRT handling contribution from the venue.

Virtual & Hybrid Events

I produce virtual and hybrid events end to end, from platform management to the stream itself.

Podcast Production

I record and produce podcasts remotely: session setup, tech checks with guests, clean recordings on Riverside or Zoom, then editing and delivery.

Remote Recording

I run remote podcast recording sessions on Riverside and Zoom. Riverside records a local track per guest, so the final audio doesn't depend on anyone's internet connection.

Editing & Delivery

I handle podcast editing and turn raw sessions into finished episodes, ready to publish.

I'm also involved with Storyline Creative, a podcast production company.

Automation & Integration

I got into automation through live production, where everything runs on cues, macros, and triggers. Business processes can work the same way. I build automation remotely: blogs that publish on schedule, email newsletters that build and send themselves, and the other publishing steps a business repeats every week. A lot of the work is integration. I connect the tools a business already uses so information moves between them without anyone retyping it. Recent builds: an HR workflow that turns simple admin entries into clean payroll data; a publishing pipeline that posts podcast episodes and YouTube recaps on schedule, pulling each video's details from a database and filling them in through the YouTube API; and an online to-go ordering system for a restaurant that simplified back-of-house fulfillment and reporting. If you can write the steps down, I can probably wire most of them together. Everything I build is documented and handed off so your team can run it. When you need changes or a new workflow later, remote support is one of the services I offer.

Content & Publishing Workflows

I automate blogs, email newsletters, and recurring content so publishing happens on schedule, every time.

Integration & Remote Support

I connect the tools you already use so they talk to each other. Remote support for what I build is available as a service.

Networks & Platforms

The networks are from REMI sports work. The platforms are where I produce podcasts and virtual events.

Technology Services

These are the tech jobs I take on alongside the three main lines of work, mostly for small businesses and people who need someone they can call.

Web Design & Development

Custom websites built by hand for performance, accessibility, and SEO. No bloated page builders, just clean code that loads fast and ranks well.

Wi-Fi & Network Design

I plan, install, and troubleshoot Wi-Fi for homes, offices, and event venues. Sometimes that's a single-router fix; sometimes it's a multi-AP deployment with VLANs and guest isolation.

Computer Repair & IT Support

I diagnose and repair Macs and PCs, recover data, and set up new machines, mostly for families and small businesses. I stay on for support after the fix.

Programming Projects

Companion Module — NEC Projectors

My first module in the official Bitfocus Companion repo. Built for a venue where two projectors could only be powered on from the remote, standing at the stage. Now power, inputs, lens, and live lamp status all run from the booth over the network, with button colors that follow the projector state in real time, warming up and cooling down included. Ships with presets, so a working panel takes a few minutes to set up.

Companion Module — Pharos Designer

A Bitfocus Companion module I wrote after a venue's aging Pharos wall panel gave out from years of use. A Stream Deck took its place, running the Pharos system, the lighting console, and the room's video and audio from the first floor instead of a climb up to the booth. Cue control and feedback over WebSocket; open source on GitHub.

Questions I Get

What is REMI production?

REMI stands for Remote Integration Model. The cameras, microphones, and announcers stay at the venue while the switching, graphics, and audio mixing happen in a control room somewhere else, connected over bonded cellular and SRT. Most of my broadcast work is REMI.

Do you work remotely?

Yes, remote is my default. I'm based in the US and take remote work from anywhere: REMI broadcast positions, podcast sessions, and automation projects can all be done remotely. When a production needs someone on site, I travel.

What business processes can you automate?

The recurring ones. Blog publishing, email newsletters, and content workflows that repeat on a schedule are the most common. If you can write the steps down, I can probably wire most of them together. Remote support is available after it's built.

Can you record a podcast with guests in different cities?

Yes. I run remote recording sessions on Riverside and Zoom, so hosts and guests can be anywhere. I handle the session setup and the tech checks before recording.

Where has your broadcast work aired?

My REMI sports broadcast work has aired on ESPN, Golf Channel, DAZN, and Peacock.

How do I hire you?

Email hello@mattheweasterday.com or use the form on my hire page. Tell me the date, if there is one, and what you're planning.

Have an event coming up, or a process you want automated? I'd love to hear about it.
